The much-anticipated Game On Futsal Tournament concluded its thrilling matches on May 2, leaving spectators and participants buzzing with excitement. Organized by Game On, one of the leading youth sports promoters in the valley, the tournament brought together top undergraduate teams from various colleges across Kathmandu for two days of fast-paced, high-intensity futsal action. Among the standout performers was the undergraduate team from Embark College, whose spirited display in Group A earned them a well-deserved qualification to the quarterfinals.
The tournament kicked off on May 1 with an electrifying atmosphere. Teams gathered at the venue, ready to battle it out on the futsal court, where quick footwork, precise passing, and tactical awareness would decide the fate of each side. Embark College’s boys entered the competition with high hopes and a clear determination to make their mark. Drawn into the highly competitive Group A alongside strong opponents like Insight Vision College, Madan Bhandari Memorial College, Nagarjuna College, and LBEF College, they knew the challenge would be steep.
Group A proved to be one of the most fiercely contested pools of the tournament. Over four matches each, teams showcased exceptional talent, turning every game into a spectacle of skill and endurance. The final standings reflected the intensity:
Embark College’s qualification to the quarterfinals was a significant achievement. In a group where only the top four advanced, their 4 points came through a combination of tactical discipline and never-say-die attitude. The team secured one hard-fought victory and managed a crucial draw, results that proved decisive in their progression.
The boys from Embark displayed remarkable character throughout the games. In their opening matches, they faced tough opposition from the top teams. Against Insight Vision College and Madan Bhandari Memorial College – both eventual group leaders – Embark showed glimpses of brilliance but ultimately fell short against superior finishing. However, these encounters served as valuable learning experiences, allowing the team to refine their strategies.
The turning point came in their match against Nagarjuna College, where Embark’s midfielders controlled the tempo effectively, leading to a well-earned result that boosted team morale. Their standout performance was the victory against LBEF College, where the forwards displayed clinical finishing and the defense stood firm. Goalkeeping heroics and solid teamwork were evident as they kept the scoreline respectable even in challenging fixtures.
