Embark College hosted an insightful and timely guest session on 25th August 2026 for MBA, BSc. Business Management (BSc. BM), and ACCA students. The session was delivered by Ms. Cecile Riviere, First Secretary of the Embassy of Switzerland in Nepal. With her diplomatic and developmental perspective, Ms. Riviere shared valuable insights on climate change, green sustainable energy and the responsible management of natural resources, with a particular focus on the Nepali context.
The session addressed one of the most pressing global and national challenges of our time, climate change and its implications for Nepal’s environment, economy, and future development. Ms. Riviere discussed the growing urgency of climate action and highlighted how countries like Nepal, despite contributing relatively little to global emissions, remain highly vulnerable to the impacts of rising temperatures, changing weather patterns, glacial melt and extreme climate events.
A major focus of the discussion was green and sustainable energy. Ms. Riviere explored the potential of renewable energy sources in Nepal, including hydropower, solar and other clean energy alternatives. She emphasized the importance of transitioning toward sustainable energy systems that support economic growth while reducing environmental harm. Students gained insights into how green energy initiatives can contribute to energy security, climate resilience, and long-term national development.
The session also covered the theme of natural resource management. Ms. Riviere spoke about the need for responsible use of resources, sustainable development practices, and the role of policy, innovation, and international cooperation in protecting Nepal’s rich natural heritage. She highlighted how thoughtful resource management can support both environmental conservation and inclusive economic progress.
For MBA, BSc. BM and ACCA students, the session was particularly relevant as it connected global sustainability challenges with practical business, finance, and development perspectives. Ms. Riviere encouraged students to consider the role of future professionals in driving climate conscious decision making, supporting green investments and contributing to sustainable business models. Her remarks reinforced the growing importance of environmental awareness and sustainability knowledge across all professional fields.
The interactive nature of the session allowed students to engage directly with Ms. Riviere. They asked questions related to climate adaptation strategies in Nepal, opportunities in the green energy sector, the role of international partnerships and how young professionals can contribute to sustainable development. Ms. Riviere responded thoughtfully, offering clear and informed perspectives drawn from her diplomatic experience.
Ms. Cecile Riviere’s position as First Secretary of the Embassy of Switzerland in Nepal brought significant credibility and international insight to the discussion. Her ability to connect global climate agendas with Nepal’s specific environmental and developmental realities made the session both informative and highly relevant for the students.
This guest session on climate change, green sustainable energy and resource management enriched the learning experience of MBA, BSc. BM, and ACCA students at Embark College. By inviting distinguished diplomats and subject experts like Ms. Cecile Riviere, the college continues to provide high-quality exposure to critical global issues that shape the future of business, finance, and sustainable development.
Students left the session with a deeper understanding of climate challenges facing Nepal and a stronger awareness of the role they can play in supporting green and responsible growth. Such engagements play a vital role in preparing future professionals who are not only skilled in their disciplines but also conscious of environmental and social responsibilities.
