Industry Insights with Saurabh Jyoti: A Transformative Session at Embark College

On February 11, 2025, Embark College conducted an interactive session with students featuring Mr. Saurabh Jyoti, the Chairman of Syakar Trading Company, as a special guest. One of the most respected business leaders in Nepal, Mr. Jyoti narrated his journey, experiences, and envisioned the future of entrepreneurship, leadership, and innovation. 

Mr. Jyoti began the session by talking about his career, elaborating on how he steered transformation through various industries-the automobile, steel, and consumer goods – for his company down from its founding years. He spoke on the need for being market-driven; encouraging innovations; and conducting business ethically. These experiences imparted to the students a pragmatic appreciation of growth and sustainability within and outside Nepal.

Another highlight was the emphasis on sustainable business growth and ethical leadership, said Mr. Jyoti, encouraging students to explore industries that promise a bright future, such as digitization, skilled workforce development, and future mobility. There were encouraging insights from him about changes in the business environment in Nepal, which motivated students to analyze their role in the country’s economic future.

Other relevant topics discussed included Mr. Jyoti’s contribution to youth entrepreneurship. He talked about his involvement in the Nepal Youth Business Foundation and the “Made in Nepal” campaign, which together hope to stimulate local innovation, self-reliance, and global competitiveness. This motivated students to appreciate local businesses and discover how to take them forward on the international stage.

The session was rounded off with a highly interactive Q&A, during which students were given the rare opportunity to ask Mr. Jyoti about investment insights, principles of business leadership, and career building in the fast-evolving market. The answers provided useful guidance-creating a bridge between academic knowledge and real-world business challenges.
