Embark College organized a workshop on Mobile Journalism on 31st August, facilitated by Ms. Nasana Bajracharya and open to students across all programs. The workshop was designed to introduce participants to the fundamentals of mobile journalism and to demonstrate how smartphones can be effectively used as tools for storytelling, reporting, and content creation in today’s digital media landscape. The session aimed to build practical skills while encouraging students to explore creative and responsible media practices.
The workshop began with an introduction to the concept of mobile journalism and its growing relevance in modern journalism and communication. Ms. Bajracharya discussed how advancements in mobile technology have transformed the way stories are captured, produced, and shared, making journalism more accessible and immediate. She emphasized the importance of accuracy, ethics, and storytelling even when working with fast-paced digital platforms.
As the session progressed, participants were guided through practical aspects of mobile journalism, including framing, composition, lighting, and audio recording using smartphones. Ms. Bajracharya shared tips on capturing compelling visuals, conducting effective mobile interviews, and using basic mobile applications for editing and publishing content. The hands-on approach helped students understand how professional-quality content can be produced using readily available devices.
The workshop encouraged active participation, with students engaging in discussions and practical exercises throughout the session. Participants explored how mobile journalism can be applied across various fields, including news reporting, digital marketing, documentation, and social media content creation. The interactive format allowed students to clarify doubts and gain confidence in using mobile tools for creative and informative communication.
By the end of the workshop, students developed a foundational understanding of mobile journalism techniques and the potential of smartphones as powerful media tools. The session enhanced their digital literacy and practical skills, enabling them to approach content creation with greater awareness and responsibility.
This workshop reflected Embark College’s commitment to skill-based and experiential learning. By offering sessions open to all students, the institution continues to promote interdisciplinary learning and equip learners with relevant skills aligned with evolving digital and media trends.
